The Kitchener Gaels have made a finals appearance in every tournament thus far, losing in only one of them. Would the Gaels do it again in the Unionville chapter?? A talented roadblock from Toronto was there to stop them, or try to at least. The Gaels took on the Titans in a game that I had the privilege to officiate. Though both teams boast a strong core of solild athletes, those of the Gaels were better on this Sunday morning as the Kitchener crew would advance to their 4th consecutive final of the season, defeating the Titans 25 to 13. Another team with a few championship appearances under their belts this season, The Mississauga Axemen, took on the promising Toronto Force in our other semi finals. The experienced Axemen pulled out yet another semi final victory, defeating the boys from T.O. 26 to 14. With the Gaels sporting their usual small roster, the large squad Axemen went into the finals with an obvious advantage. However, youth, speed, and an apparent knack for performing well in the big games sided with the Gaels in these finals, as the 9 man crew swept threw the Axemen with a convincing 35 to 13 defeat. This win, coupled their previous acomplishments, makes The Gaels are one of the hottest teams on the tour heading to the Provincials. I look forward to seeing them at the Labor Day weekend classic. Congratulations to you and to the Axemen for making yet another Trillium final. Please see pictures of the Champions and Finalists below. Click on their images to have them enlarged.
