With the Ottawa Fury and Toronto Lancers
regulated to sideline spectating, the Toronto Rockets were Ontario’s
last hope of winning the Women’s “A” crown. They would
squeeze by the Fleur De Lys (14 to 12) in the semis, awaiting the outcome
of a Trad and Blizzard outcome (both from Montréal). With the
Trads calming the Blizzard 20 to 0, our championship game was set.
The Rockets and Trads battled to a very
defensive oriented 8 to 7 outcome. Punching in an extra single point,
the Toronto ladies celebrated their second major title of 2003. After
winning the 2003 Provincial Championships last month, The Toronto Rockets
raised their hands in victory once more as they were crowned women’s
Canadian “A” Champions.
