Four teams dropped down from tier one
and four teams stayed in the upper bracket of tier two. Our “A”
division was born. We’ll start our recap with the quarter-finals.
My Ottawa Legends and I defeated the
crafty Mississauga Axemen 37 to 19, The Ottawa Mustangs Defeated The
Silver Bullets 26 to 0, The Kingston Frogs squeaked past the Montreal
Hitmen 19 to 18 and the Ottawa Seminoles shut out the Ottawa Vikings
20 to 0.
Our First Semi Final saw the Seminoles
and my squad go head to head. Though I still feel that there were some
controversial calls (screening has to be called, no matter how badly
you want to let the players play!!! lol), both teams had an equal opportunity
in the overtime showdown. The Seminoles came out on the positive end
of that one, advancing to the finals for their first time this season.
Our two teams have had a couple of negative altercations over 2003,
but this was a clean, fun game and they were a class act the whole way.
In our other semi-final The Mustangs more then doubled the Singing frogs,
30 to 14, to advance to the finals as well.
Though the Mustangs turned the ball over
several times in this championship game (great “D” by the
Seminoles) their defense was able to stymie several offensive efforts,
earning them the 2003 “A” division crown. Congratulations
gentlemen and congratulations to the Seminoles for making it to the
finals!
