Ontario Championships – Mens’ Draw format
As many are aware, the Ontario championships will be contested over 2 days this year, instead of 3.
Playing over 2 days necessitated a change in the draw format as follows:
- Tiers 1 and 2 will be 12 teams, instead of 16
- As there are 30 teams, tier 3 will consist of 6 teams
- Teams are guaranteed 3 games instead of 4, albeit most teams will play at least 4 in the draw as constructed
- The draw will not follow the tour format, but instead follow a format that meets the objectives of the Ontario championship [to differentiate the draw from other tour events to make it special, to reward teams for earning their placing during the year, to rank teams for the Canadians etc.]
o In past years, the Ontario draw has had closed tiers, recognizing that teams have had 5 events to properly earn their ranking
o This years’ draw will have inter-tier play; that is, the tiers that are not closed, but the draw will be somewhat less open than the current tour draw
o Tier 1 quarter-finals will be the 1st game on Sunday versus the 3rd game on Saturday
o Tier 2 teams will be able to pass Tier 1 teams with their on-field performance

At the moment I'm still having trouble uploading the footage. The Kingston clips aren't yet available either. Working with these files aren't easy to try elsewhere, as each video is a massive 500 megs each. Uploading on a normal connection can take up to 4 hours, which slows everything to a crawl. Suffice to say, using someone's elses connection has to be timed properly, with potentially 40 hours of upload time required. I hope to have this problem fixed by next week, however, I'l lkeep you all posted.

Trillium Cup Date Alteration
To all TFO teams intending to participate in the Provincial Championships in Belleville.
Please be advised that this event will be a two day event, Saturday September 4th and Sunday September 5th in Belleville.
Be sure to book your Hotel accommodations accordingly. Our host hotel Ramada has already been notified.
This decision was the result from the voting forms sent out to team managers deciding on two or three day tournament. The vote for a two day tournament this year was beyond unanimous, as well as moving the tournament away from the long weekend next season.
We'd like to thank all of the players and managers for taking the time to voice their opinions on such an important issue.
Ottawa NCC Field Change
Wilfred Laurier will be moved to Millenium Park (see map) as field 1. This change affects Saturday games, as Wilfred Laurier was only being used that day. We are contacting all teams affected and have made a post on the message boards. Sorry for any inconvenience!

The 2010 Trillium Cup tournament season is set to get underway with our first stop in Burlington. Welcome to all participating teams new and old to this years tournament schedule. It should be an interesting, if not entertaining, year with new blood joining the tour and shake-ups on many rosters. Good luck to everyone!
Due to slight changes regarding field lettering, Grid and Draws have been updated.

New
- Frozen Roster Policy
All Trillium Tour teams would have their rosters frozen at the completion
of the 2009 Nationals. That being said any player on a team’s
roster would be considered on that team for the start of the next season.
If a player chooses to start the season with a different team, than
he would not be permitted to return to the team he played for in the
previous year.
The rational behind this is that in the last few years, numerous players
have been participating in the Early Bird Tournament with a different
team than they finished the season only because that team is not entered
in the Early Bird, then return later in the tour to their original team.
Example: Player X for the Team A plays for Team B in the Early
Bird because Team A has not entered. Player X than transfers back to
Team A once they start to compete on the tour.
Player X may transfer to any team other than Team
A for the duration of the 2010 Trillium Tour season
Tournament Fields at Risk - 'No Bottle Policy'
It is becoming harder for our tournament organizers to obtain fields.
Even if they are able to secure fields, many organizers are finding
that their rental costs are increasing. Some of the causes for reduced
field availability and/or increased field costs are beyond our control.
However, there are some areas where we can self-police ourselves.
One area relates to the significant use of glass bottles at tournament
fields. Glass bottles are being left at or around fields causing a litter
problem. Broken bottles have been found on the actual playing surface,
presenting a risk to all Touch Football Ontario participants. In addition,
broken glass being found on and around fields after our events can cause
us to lose fields. Expecting tournament volunteers to clean up the broken
glass and the litter is not acceptable.
As such, Touch Football Ontario is implementing a “no
glass bottle” policy at all Trillium Tour Events, beginning in
2009.
· Team Managers of all member teams will be
responsible to advise, control, and enforce this ‘no bottle’
policy with their own players.
· Should any team be found breeching this policy, the Team
Manager[s] will be held responsible and will answer to, and
face sanctions from, the discipline committee.
While Touch Football Ontario adheres to a zero tolerance policy with
regards to alcohol consumption on Tournament Facilities other than in
designated areas, all participants are reminded that they are responsible
for their own litter and clean up.
