A Word From The Chair
The St. Catharines Touch Football Association was honored to organize and run the 2003 St. Catharines Cup, which had been absent from the Trillium Tour for many years. We would like to thank all participants for their attendance & support through the rainy conditions on Saturday & sunny skies on Sunday. We look forward to organizing this event again next year. A Word From The President
Thanks Mark, Ed and Bruce,
Goodtimes In St
Cath It has been 7 years or so since beautiful St Catharines played host to a Trillium Tournament. Though teams were hit with an awful downpour of rain the first day, the following Sunday sun, coupled with the many attractions (good ol' Niagara Falls) for sat night adventurers to digest, made the St Cath stop a tournament to remember. Though things were a little pricey in downtown Niagara, the dinner coupons that we had per room were something else. Our team (Legends) had three rooms. The dinner coupons were $50.00 per room. We were able to combine the coupons, which gave us $150.00 off of our bill. Montana's was the place. This Montana's wasn't your typical Montana's, it was a fine dining version of the usual pub/eatery that is. Anyways, to keep a short story from getting long, let's just say that we ate like kings for fast food prices. A few other teams (and officials) took advantage of this deal as well. Good times had by all… As for the rest of the night, we'll leave that one on the road. I will say though that Niagara offers some interesting locals for their adult tourists. Getting walloped by the Candians in the final of last years Tournament Of Champions, the Spartans had to wait a few months to return the favor. Though there was no blowout in their grudge match in the St Cath Finals, there was a new winner. The Spartans ended the Candians 34 game (including Trillium and Nationals only) winning steak, defeating them in a very close 32 to 28 game. Congratulations gentlemen. To see tier one results, pictures of the champs of finalists, as well a commentary by Spartans team Captain/Manager/Legend Dave Thompson, click HERE, or use the tier one icon in the left hand column at any time....
Zapping their way to the finals, Toronto's Shock looked to take advantage of the absence of some of the top teams to acquire some much cherished trillium points. Take advantage they did. The Shock defeated fellow Torontonians, Wildcats, 12 to 6, to win their first tournament of 2003. Congratulations ladies!!
