Though we only had 6 teams competing on this stop (should be huge in Kingston), the ladies fought hard non the less. It was definitely a Toronto affair, as 6 teams from the greater T.O. area took to the stage in the quarter finals. Winning coach (Shock and Lancers HC) Kevin Dawkins shared a few words with us regarding the The Catharines affair.... Kevin; With only 6 teams entered in the tournament the Shock became the heavy favorites. On Saturday, the Shock played 2 games in the pouring rain. The first game featured a classic match up of teacher verses student as Coach K was faced with the dilemma of his two women’s team playing one another for the first time ever. The Shock prevailed against their younger rivals as they won their game by a score of 25 to 0. Their next game was against the Rockets in now 6 hours of constant rain. They won by a score of 8 to 0 as they moved on to Sunday to await the their "A" semi-Final. The Semi Final was also against the Rockets who were outplayed by the Shock. The Shock were on a roll and scored while on offense and while on defense. The final score was 33 to 0. This game helped to mentally prepare the Shock for their final against the Wildcats. In the final the Wildcats came out and stunned the Shock by taking a 7 – 0 lead at half. The Shock regrouped at half time and came out on fire and looked like a team on a mission. They scored 12 points in the second half to win the tournament. With a classy gesture Ed Laverty awarded the Shock with the "A" Championship Trophy and Jackie Dore received the Game MVP. Although there were only 6 teams in the women’s draw, all the teams felt like they were welcome back to the Trillium Tour. We will see you all in Kingston where the party will be on!!
