Arrrrrrrrrrrrgooooooooos
The Montreal Mavericks and Maroons took
some great strides throughout this Ottawa stop. The Maroons upset the
highly talented Toronto Jets, while the Mav’s took down the always
offensively gifted Ottawa Bullets. Unfortunately, both teams had to
face-off in the Semi’s, leaving only one Montreal squad in the
finals. Despite the Mav’s having to operate with an 8 man crew,
they were still able to slip past their hometown rivals in an exciting
one point victory.
On the flipside of things, The Ottawa
ACC Argos continued their successful Trillium run. Hot off the heels
of their Kingston title, The Argo’s would defeat the ever improved
Seminoles and Toronto Force to make their second consecutive championship
game appearance. Though this had the makings of an even match up, the
Mav’s 8 man crew obviously took its toll on this squad. With several
Mav players limping in this one, the Argos would cruise to a 27 to 12
victory, earning their second title of 2004. Congratulations gentlemen,
and congratulations to the Mav’s for showing some serious grit.
I felt for you guys as I drank my frosty beer on the sidelines. Cheers!
