Like their ONC elite counterparts, The Ottawa Devils have had a story book existence. For many years, the Devils sat at the very top of women’s football in Canada. Although they’ve been restructuring their roster the last couple of seasons, the ladies in black and red have consistently proven that they can still compete with the best of them.

The Devils playoff picture took shape after their15 to 12 preliminary heartbreaker loss to the number one ranked Toronto Shock. This loss meant that the ladies would drop from the elite picture into the “A” division. Two Quebec teams, Labatt Sherbrooke and the Flagmag Fleur Des Lys, would stand in the way of a Devils national title.

While the internationally adept Fleur Des Lys are well known, the jury was out on the Sherbrooke ladies. After they lost to the Rebels and the Fleur Des lys by only two points combined in round robin play, the verdict was clear, Sherbrooke was the real deal and the Devils were in for a rough ride.

Ottawa Devils 14 vs FlagMag Fleur De Lys 6

Although both Quebec teams offered solid semi and final game competition, the experienced Devils defense held both teams to single touchdowns. With the Devils posting no more then two scores in each contest, both games featured exciting finishes. Although the Devils eventually captured their first national title in two years, it took everything in their arsenal to do so. Congratulations ladies!
