The Ottawa Mudpigs and Assassins had terrible round robin results, posting disappointing 0-3 records. Their playoff pools didn’t offer any signs of relief, as they had to face other competitive Ottawa squads such as the Dreamboats and the Firm, to name a few. Let’s take a look at some of these scores beginning with the quarterfinals.

Quarter Finals

Ottawa The Firm 22 vs Ottawa Jaguars 8

Ottawa Assassins 19 vs Ott Hired Goons 0

Ottawa Dreamboats 14 vs Regina Marine Sharks 8

Ottawa Mudpigs 6 vs Ottawa Gamecocks 0

Semi Finals

Ottawa Mudpigs 39 vs Ottawa The Firm 18

Ottawa Assassins 19 vs Ottawa Dreamboats 7

The Mudpigs were blessed with a quarterfinal bye, making their Monday morning game a little easier to stretch out for. Their 39 to 18 dominance over the Firm was a fine indicator of how well rested this crew was. The Assassins, contrarily, had their hands full with the up and coming Ottawa Dreamboats in their semifinal match up. Although they escaped with a victory, they had to earn it, which resulted in very fatigued bodies.

The Mudpigs and Assassins have played each other countless times over the years. This laid the ground-work for a competitive championships game. With the high familiarity level an expected defensive battle ensued. Despite several offensive Assassin opportunities solid defense kept the Mudpigs on the positive end of a 21 to 18 score.

This was a special year for the Mudpigs. Not only did they capture their first National title, their sister team and fan support extraordinaire (Sizzzzling Sows) captured their first ONTFL city championship. Congratulations on turning around a rather disappointing season Mudpigs, it was a well earned title!
