Anyone affiliated with Touch Football in this country is well aware of the Ottawa Nepean Canadian dynasty. Over the last four years, ONC have dominated the elite men’s division. Heading into the 2005 Tournament Of Champions, the Canadians had three elite Ontario titles and three consecutive National Championships under their belts. Despite playing in some of their most hard fought battles this past Trillium Tour and Trillium Cup, the Canadians easily captured their fourth straight elite National title at the TOC.

Burl T.Litzen Spartans 40 vs Winnipeg Assassins 12

Burlington Piranhas 29 vs Almonte Hellcats 12

Montreal Mavericks 38 vs Regina Megolamania 28

Sixteen of the top teams in the country took to the field at the Tournament Of Champions. Although Ontario squads comprised the bulk of the elite division, our nation was fairly well represented. The Moncton Bulldogs, Regina's Megalomania, the Winnipeg Asssassins and two Quebec based units, the Maroons and Mavericks, helped add to the national feel for this event.

Semi Finals

Ottawa Nepean Canadians 27 vs Montreal Mavericks 6

Burlington Piranhas 29 vs T. Litzen Spartans 20

Finals

Ottawa Nepean Canadians 38 vs Burlington Piranhas 6

Despite some upsets, a thrilling Piranhas victory over the Spartans, and breakthrough stories (Seminoles surge, and Regina's 1st place pool finish) the story of the Tournament Of Champions belonged to the Ottawa Nepean Canadians. With a record of 6 and 0, not to mention their191 points for and only 68 against, ONC's elite fourpeat was never in jeopardy.

The ONC folding rumor mill has been spinning for some time. If this TOC was the Canadians last appearance as a team, then they couldn't have ended an era any better. They have been the bar that teams have measured themselves against for four years now, and when tested, ONC have always performed beyond expectations. Congratulations on another fine National showing gentlemen. We all hope that you keep your squad together. The Tour and the TOC just wouldn't be the same without having your team to beat. I think you just have to keep Rod away from the golf course, then you might be able to convince your all-star quarterback to return:)
