The Hamilton Piranhas were sitting in first place heading into the Limestone despite sharing the same points as the Gaels. Earning consecutive AA titles with their Kingston Elite Championship, the Piranhas are now clearly on top of the TFO world.

Parity has been the buzz word for the early portions of 2008, however, we’d have to exclude the Piranhas from that. While most teams struggle with one team or another, the Piranhas have taken them all down convincingly. When it counted the most in Kingston, the Piranhas flexed their “A” game to string together a slew of impressive play-off performances, dominating their way to their third title of the season.

Congratulations on your early success gentlemen, you are clearly the team to beat right now.

With all elite teams represented in Kingston, it is no surprise that the A play-offs resemble the elite side of things even more so. The Gaels and the Spartans respectively ranked second and third, highlight this observation.

The Spartans had the most compelling story of the Kingston stop. Injuries plagued their roster prior to Kingston, but things got worse as more bodies went down over the weekend. If memory serves me correct, only two offensive regulars completed the tournament. These “facts” make their results all the more impressive.

With a crippled squad, the Spartans avenged a round-robin Irish loss before defeating the Gaels in the finals to earn their third consecutive title of the season. Congratulations gentlemen!

The newly-formed Toronto Gators struggled with early growing pains. Kingston could be considered their coming-of-age party, as they pulled off some huge wins to earn their first title. Opening round-robin action 2 and 0, the Gators dropped a lopsided play-off decision to the Hogs.

Rebounding nicely in BB action, the Gators strung three W’s together, including a big win over the Montreal mavericks and a second consecutive victory over the Tailgators to take the title. Congratulations gentlemen!

The Kingston stop has generally been a successful venture for the Ottawa Lixar Spartans, and 2008 was no exception. Dominating their round-robin going 2 and 0, the Spartans dropped a contested 19 to 12 decision to their rivals, the Tailgators, in the preliminaries.

Making their way into B play-offs, the Spartans rebounded to take down some extremely credible opponents. In consecutive play-off contests, the Spartans controlled the Hitmen and Bengals before blanking the Bulls 29 to 0 in the finals to earn their first title of the season. Congratulations gentlemen!

At the last Tour stop in Hamilton, The Ottawa Devils came from behind to defeat the Toronto Rebels and advance to the finals. The roles were reversed in Kingston, however, with the Rebels trailing the Devils late in the game.

Seven points down, Impact Rebel, Avery Brevette, sacked arguably the biggest impact player, Kim Kerr, for a safety touch allowing her team to re-take possession, score and eventually win the game.

The Rebels needed to ride this momentum into the finals, as they faced the 2006 elite Canadian finalist Montreal Fleur De Lys, the team that already beat them in round-robin play. In that contest, the Fleur De Lys edged out a 19 to 16 decision.

The championship game displayed a more confident Rebels, as they dictated the pace of much of the contest. In fact, the Rebels held the Fleur De Lys to a single touchdown. Scoring 22 points themselves, the Rebels earned their first elite title since the 2006 Trillium Cup. Congratulations ladies!

With three different elite champions in the first three Tour stops, women’s football has never been more exciting. We all can’t wait to see how this year unfolds!

The Laval Chiefs were ranked second to only the Rebels heading into the tournament. Playing well up to their potential, the Chiefs tore through every one of their Kingston stop battles.

They posted a perfect 5 and O record, including big wins over the elite ranked Landell Lightning, and the only team ranked ahead of them in tier 2, the London Rebels.

The Chiefs were flawless throughout Kingston, earning the title with ease. Congratulations on your fantastic performance ladies!

The Montreal Coyotes only loss in Kingston was at the hands of the Laval Chiefs, the team that destroyed everyone else in tier 2. Of course, their battle with the Chiefs was a marginal 13 to 6 defeat.

With their round-robin split, the Coyotes dropped to BB division, where they wouldn’t lose again. In play-off contests they dominated the Mavericks and the Inferno, combining 55 points and allowing none to capture the title. Congratulations ladies!

The Markham Marauders played to a disappointing 1 and 2 round-robin record. Early Sunday action, however, yielded better results. Whether this was the result of improved play or better match-ups, the Marauders were a different team throughout their play-offs.

The West park Jaguars had to crawl from the depths of frist half despair, as Montreal's Orange Croches completed dominated their championship contest early.

The game looked so out of reach, that when the film crew took photos and video clips for the website, the focus fell entirely the Croches.

Our apologies for the lack of faith Jags, we won't doubt your perseverance again. Congratulations on the fantastic comeback gentlemen!

The DS Killer Beeezzzz earned a championship birth at the Early Bird, only to drop a one-sided decision to the Kitchener Vipers. The Kingston stop, however, would offer a better result for the Beeezzz.

Making their way to a second championship contest, the Beeezzz did not quite dish out a one-sided decision, but they did control the Hamilton Wildcats to earn their first title of the season. Congratulations!
