Much has been written about the Hampton Rogues and their
Trillium Tour success. They have many titles under their belts and have
made countless championship game appearances over the years. In Kingston
they would have to face one of the craftiest qb’s of them all,
our timeless President, Ed Laverty, and his Silver Bullets. Although
the Bullets don’t feature nearly the kind of roster they once
had back in the day, they still have enough experience to make moves
on the field.
Let’s see who the Rogues and Bullets had to face before taking
to the field in their championship game, beginning with the quarter-finals.
Quarter-Finals
Mississauga Axemen 24
vs Niagara Muddogs 0
Ottawa Silver Bullets
32 vs Montreal Bigg Dogg 18
Hamilton Wolves 27 vs
Ottawa Spartans 24
Oshawa Hampton Rogues
30 vs Sta Catherine’s Lizards 14
Semi-Finals
Hampton Rogues 30 vs
Mississauga Axemen 22
Ottawa Silver Bullets
34 vs Hamilton Wolves 28
The Rogues and Bullets had to go through experienced squads, in the
Lizards, Wolves and Axemen before earning the right to compete for
the title. Both teams were tested in the quarter and semi-final match
ups, which was advantageous for the Rogues and their larger and healthier
roster.
This advantage was obvious from the start to the finish of the game,
as the Rogues dominated much of this contest. They would handily capture
their second title of the season, defeating the Bullets 30 to 19.
Congratulations gentlemen!
