The Ottawa Nepean Canadians made their Trillium Tour debut at the Kingston stop, completing the list of participating Elite teams. Despite the return of the four time National champions, the stories behind k-town belonged to other teams. We’ll take a look at these great moments after we view some play-off scores, beginning with the quarter-finals.

T.Litzen Spartans 21 vs Ottawa Hellcats 20

Toronto Trojans 21 vs Ottawa ACC Argos 20

Ottawa Nepean Canadians 33 vs Montreal Maroons 8

T.Litzen Spartans 36 vs Ottawa Nepean Canadians 13

The newly formed Ottawa Capitals continued to improve on the Tour. For the third straight tournament, they convincingly captured their Elite pool. Unlike their previous two stops, however, they would win their quarter-final match-up, advancing to the “AA” semi-finals. Knocking off the number one and number two ranked teams in the same day was big feat for this bunch.

The Toronto Trojans, still riding the waves of their gritty Hamilton performance, pulled off some big wins to make their first Elite Championship appearance in club history. After slipping past the ACC Argos, they defeated the Capitals for the third straight time, in semi-final action, to face the rebounding Spartans.

The T.Litzen Spartans had to pull out a victory over the always dangerous Hellcats in their quarter-final match-up. This close contest gave the Spartans the wake-up call they needed. They stepped things up for Sunday play-off action, despite an injury-riddled roster,.

The Spartans also faced the Canadians, who just came off a lopsided victory over the Montreal Maroons. ONC’s all star qb, Rod Moors, would not start this game, which saw their very able veteran back-up, and one of Ottawa’s finest (Anthony Constantini) take the helm. Although Rod laced up the cleats late in the game, the Spartans still walked away with a lopsided victory of their own, making their second Elite final appearance of 2006.

The Trojans knocked the Spartans out of the Hamilton Bowl in their “A” division semi-final 39 to 20 humbling. This recent memory set the stage for an excellent championship game between these two. With the Hamilton Bowl result, and the countless injuries the Spartans were playing through, the odds were certainly in favour of the Trojans to earn their first Elite title.

Like all good teams do, the Spartans sucked up their misfortunes to put together a fantastic championship game showing. The Trojans were very much in this game until the very end, however, the mighty Spartans came victorious, earning their first Elite title of 2006. TFO would like to congratulate both teams on their excellent Kingston results!
