The 3 time (consecutive) women’s elite Provincial champions, the Toronto Shock, kicked off the 2006 campaign in a dominating fashion. Aside from a close semi-final contest against their rival Montreal Raiders, the Shock had a smooth cruise to the “AA” title. Let’s see who this talented crew had to face, as well as examine other stories concerning the elite picture.

Quarter Finals

Toronto Shock 38 vs Toronto Rush 6

Ottawa Devils 13 vs Toronto Rockets 0

Toronto Rebels 2 vs Burlington Rebels 0

Montreal Raiders 24 vs Ottawa Fury

Semi Finals

Toronto Shock 20 vs Montreal Raiders 13

Ottawa Devils 20 vs Toronto Rebels 14

The Ottawa Devils welcomed the return of some old faces, and introduced some fresh ones for the new season. This mesh proved to be a successful one, as the ladies in black and red made their return to the “AA” dance. Along the way, the Devils defeated the 2005 Elite Canadian Champions and Finalists, the Toronto Rockets (many changes themselves) and the Toronto Rebels.

Despite the Devils resurgence, the Toronto Shock’s reign as the top team in the Province continued in a convincing fashion. The Shock would accumulate 137 points during their 5 and 0 record. If the Shock were trying to make a statement to their peers, they would ahve been quite successful, congratulations ladies!
