This past year was a strange one, in that The Toronto Wildcats failed to compete for a single title. Always fixtures at championship games, it looks as though this information spurred this talented Toronto squad to step things up for the Trillium Cup. As you probably gathered from the homepage, the Wildcats not only competed for their first title of the year at the Trillium Cup, they captured their first title against the favored Ottawa Edge.

Semifinals

Toronto Wildcats 12 vs Ottawa Devils 0

Ottawa Edge 25 vs Scarborough Raiders 0

Finals

Toronto Wildcats 13 vs Ottawa Edge 9

Despite suffering a convincing loss to the Toronto Shock (eventual Elite champions), in the AA preliminaries, the Wildcats faced two of the best teams that Ottawa has to offer. Putting on a defensive clinic, the Cats would shut out the Devils 12 to 0 in their semifinal contest before squaring off against the speedy Ottawa Edge for the Provincial crown.

Although their championship game was heavily delayed, it was worth the wait for the many spectators that patiently sat in anticipation for this thriller. Most games wouldn’t be considered a thriller when the final score is tallied at only 13 to 9. The boisterous crowd, coupled with the inspiring Wildcat defensive showcase, however, made this one an exceptional championship game. The wildcats, of course, were on the positive end of that 13 to 9 score, resulting in their first title of 2005. It was the perfect time to step up your game ladies. Congratulations on your fine weekend!
