We all know that the Trillium Tour is just practice and placement for the Trillium Cup. Winning every or any Tour stop might get you a few dollars and some cherished ranking points, but they mean little if you fail to shine at heavily point weighed Provincial Championships. Like the bonus round on a game show for a last place contestant, success at the Trillium Cup can wash the bad taste of a poor season from any teams mouth.

The Scarborough Raiders rinsed their mouths clean of their sub-par 2005 campaign with a stand out Trillium Cup showing. Let’s see whom this team defeated to earn their first title of the season, beginning with the quarterfinals.

Quarter Finals

Scarborough Raiders 15 vs Mississauga Cyclones 6

Ottawa GT Tigers 27 vs Burlington Bulls 15

Ottawa Silver Bullets 30 vs Toronto Force 24

Mississauga Enforcers 21 vs Ottawa Tailgators 12

Semi Finals

Mississauga Enforcers 39 vs Ottawa Silver Bullets 12

Scarborough Raiders 19 vs Ottawa GT Tigers 13

Finals

Scarborough Raiders 30 vs Mississauga Enforcers 28

The Raiders and Enforcers were two teams on a crash course for each other. With both squads having to overcome talented crews, not to mention posting undefeated records in the process (Round robin included), they laid the groundwork for an exciting championship game. Like the men’s elite final, this one delivered in all areas. Although offense was the name of the game for much of this contest, the Raiders defense garnered the most recognition as they halted the marching Enforcers in the red zone near the end of the game to seal their Championship victory.

Both teams should hold their heads high for what was one of the most exciting Championship games of the season, let alone the Trillium Cup. Congratulations gentlemen!
