Kingston has been, arguably, the most popular tour stop in TFO history. Being a short drive for Quebec, Ottawa and Toronto/Hamilton area teams, and with the ever popular night club scene (not to mention good old Queens), it's easy to see why. With organizers moving the main fields from the RMC fields to LaSalle (5 field complex) the last couple of years, teams have been able to enjoy a frosty Beer, while being able to watch a variety of football games.

Tournament Chair Don Platt shared a few words with us regarding his thoughts on the 2003 Limestone Tournament……

Thanks to all that attended and participated in the 2003 Limestone Touch Football Tournament. Without the support of you, the participants, making the trip and supporting the event, the effort put in by the organizers would be all for not.

This year's event consisted of 69 teams (54 men & 15 women). The tournament host hotel was the Ambassador and we trust everyone enjoyed his or her stay there, as usual. This hotel has been a long time supporter of touch football and what a tremendous way to thank them each year, by filling the place to capacity with teams from the east and west of our city.

Andy "The Real Deal" Wells

When players sit in the beer tent and talk about who the great receivers of TFO are and have been, names get thrown around like, Murray Manson, Leo Benvenuti, Paul Shorten, Bryan Hughes, Stephan Patasyck, and yes, Andy Wells.

The Piranhas captured their second title of the season in Kingston, defeating the Spartans 36 to 29. With an improved defense, the offensive capabilities of the Piranhas have really been allowed to shine this year. No one on their offense, save for the poise of quarterback Jason Hayes, has shined brighter than Andy Wells. Andy has been torching defenders since I started playing against him in the mid nineties. Not only has he been an unstoppable force offensively since day one, Andy has been brought in on defense, on many occasions, to shut down the opposing teams best receiver. With a few Piranha injuries in Kingston, Andy was called upon to contribute on both sides of the ball. "Contribute" is quite the understatement to describe his exploit.

Though it takes a team to win a game, let alone a tournament, there are always players who go above and beyond their required duties. Andy Wells, in Kingston, sailed far beyond anything asked of him to help lead his squad to gold. Congratulations to the Piranhas, and congratulations to you Andy. Your exploits haven't gone unnoticed, just ask any defender;)

Devils Back In Top Form?

After a disappointing semi final defeat at the hands of The Burlington Ravens in the Early Bird, The Devils looked to regain their crown as the top women's team in Ontario. With the emergence of the Toronto Shock, The Ottawa Road Runners and the always talented Toronto Rockets, to name a few, The Devils road back to the top was a little crowded. Please click HERE, or use the women's "A Div" icon in the left hand column at any time, to see how the lovely ladies from Ottawa fared in their Kingston effort.

Built For The Finals

Championship games and The Mississauga Axemen have become synonymous with each other in 2003. Though their huge roster, no doubt, has played a large role in their success, it's the nice blend of youth, experience and determination that keeps these guys the dangerous force that they've always been. Like any team, The Axemen have had their ups and downs, it's their ability to see beyond the "downs" that has made them such a TFO presence. Congratulations on winning your second title in three attempts gentlemen. Hope to see you in Ottawa!
