With the Ottawa Mustangs making their Trillium debut, the top teams in Ontario were all represented in Kingston. Parity, and strange outcomes have defined this division this year, Kingston was no different. With Landell and The Blue Devils dropping down to Tier Two, and with the Spartans knocking out the powerful Canadians once again, the floodgates were left wide open for "parity and strange outcomes" to continue defining Tier One.

All eyes were on the debut of 3rd ranked, The Magellan Mustangs and their stand out quarterback, John Davidson. Making his first tournament appearance after recovering from shoulder surgery during the off season, Davidson looked to dispel any rumors of his arm not being, "up to par". Though he looked like he had some difficulty throwing across his body, J.D. was in good enough form to lead his improved team to the semi finals. There they lost to the eventual Champions, The Piranhas. Nothing to be ashamed about there fellas!

The Canadians were slapped with a little dose of what my Legends have been experiencing all season, the injury bug. After dueling it out with GMP Monster in the quarters, ONC met up with the Spartans, who ended their unbeaten streak in St Cath, in the semis. In a crazy, back and forth, defensive battle, The Spartans, once again, came out on top.

The Piranhas, and their always dangerous offence, took on my Legends in the quarters. Though the Piranhas jumped out to a quick two touchdown lead, We fought back hard to make this rivalry the close contest that it usualy is. As anyone knows, mistakes against the Piranhas are always costly and our early ones (my early ones!!!) cost us heavily. The Piranhas moved on to the Semi's and eventually, the championship game. Piranha quarterback and team Manager, Jason Hayes, shared a few words with us, documenting his team's successful Kingston stop.

Gord;

The Piranhas played a strong tournament. They were led offensively by Jay Green and Cam Difelice and defensively by Keith Thorne and Courtney Osborne. The offence continued its strong play starting with a 20 point come from behind victory against Landell and carried that into Sunday by defeating tough opponent Playground Legends. In that game the Piranhas lost 3 key receivers. At that point Andrew Wells displayed terrific ability on both sides of the ball leading us past the Magellan Mustangs in the semis. Timely interceptions and Andrew's stellar play led us into the final where we won our 2nd title of the year. AJ's (the bar) presented us with a battle Saturday night. 9:45 am start Sunday???

Thanks for the words Jason and congratulations on your teams second title of the season!! Please see a run down of the Tier one scores, as well, pictures of the Champions, FInalists and championship game MVP's. Click on the images to have them enlarged.
