WELCOME BACK LADIES Women's Tier One: A Devil of a time 16 teams return from a season of Flag Football to compete in this open rostered National Championship. We begin with the four teams that finished fourth in their pools. They make up semi finalists for the "BB" championships. The Montreal Blizzard snow in the Ottawa Raiders 19 to 0. The Ottawa Redskins kick a single to hand fellow citizens, Team X, a 1 to 0 loss. The Montreal Blizzard brought their storm cloud to the
Ottawa Redskins in the "BB" finals. The Redskins are blown over
32 to 0. Congratulations Montreal, our 2002 women's "BB" champions. 4 teams remain in the hunt for "A" gold. The Ottawa Road Runners fail to mount any points as they fall 2 to 0 to the Trads. The Fler De Lys put up 2 points of their own, but their opposition, the Montreal Raiders, score 14. The Raiders advance to the finals. Montreal is well represented as two teams take the center stage. The Montreal Raiders stingy defence holds the trads to 6 points. Scoring 14 of their own, the Raiders emerge victorious, capturing the Women's "A" National Title. Well done ladies . The four first place finishers of their pools ready themselves for the semi finals of the women's Elite "AA" division. In our first match up, the Toronto Storm clip the Burlington Tailgators 19 to 12 to advance. The re-formed, 3 time, defending National Champion Ottawa Devils take on the Scarborough Rockets in our second contest. The Rockets defence holds the high powered Devils to only 14 points, though the Devils defence shows what they're made of, shutting out the Rockets to make their sixth consecutive appearance in the women's Elite finals. The Scarborough Storm and The Ottawa Devils face off in the finals. The Devils, led by, out-of-retirement quarterback, Nancy Mantha, put on an offensive clinic as they pepper the Storm with 40 unanswered points. Their defence holds up their end, keeping the Storm off of the scoreboard. The Devils capture their 4th straight National title. Congratulations to the Ottawa Devils, and welcome back to you, the ladies of touch football. I'm sure that I speak for all of the men's teams when I say that it hasn't been the same without you on our tour. Until 2003, cheers all Ottawa Devils, 2002 women's National "AA" Champions
