The Toronto Shock had
6 months to think about the disappointing result to their 2004 campaign.
After being crowned the Provincial Champs (2003), The Shock were upset
by the Montreal Raiders in the semi finals in the National Championships.
Eager to relieve the bad taste in their mouths, The Shock came out “guns
a blazing” at the Early Bird. Sweeping their way through Saturday,
the Shock faced two enemies in their Sunday morning semi final; The
Toronto Rockets, and Mother Nature. Though both forces did their best
to hold back the speedy ladies, a single kick would be enough to advance
the Shock to the championship game.
On the other side of the draw, the defending
National Champions, the Ottawa Devils, did some Saturday sweeping themselves.
They would face their bitter rivals, The Ottawa Roadrunners, in a Sunday
morning semi final. The Devils would hand their home town opponents
a 13-0 loss to face the ever up-surging Shock in the championship game.
Letting everyone know that their victory
over the highly talented Devils in last years Provincial final wasn’t
an anomaly, The Shock would hand the ladies from the Capital another
defeat in this one. The Shock had a long up-hill climb to the top in
2003. In 2004, however, they clearly stand at the very peak of the TFO
mountain one month in. Congratulations on a great start to the Trillium
Tour ladies!! We’re all looking forward to seeing how this Devil/Shock
rivalry evolves!
