When teams drop down to
a lower tier, getting to the championship game is a must (precious points).
The Montreal GMP Monsters and Roxbury Saints (Burlington Ravens of 2003)
were two teams in this boat. Luckily, for both teams, they were able
to remedy disappointing Saturday results by advancing to the “A”
division finals on Sunday. Let’s see how they went about doing
so…..
Quarter Finals- Saints 28 vs Hurricanes 13
Quarter Finals- Landell Bullets 13 vs Titans 20
Quarter Finals- Monsters 33 vs Bulls 6
Quarter Finals- Axemen 26 vs Frogs 20
Semi Finals- Saints 28 vs Axemen 26
Semi Finals- Monsters 17 vs Titans 0
Finals- Monsters 24 vs Saints 21
In the semi finals, The
Saints would squeeze out a 28-26 victory over the mighty Axemen, and
the Monsters would hold the talented Titans to a rare shutout in their
17-0 victory. In the final game, The Saints would find themselves in
another tight squeeze of a game, only this time they would be on the
negative end of the result. The speedy and talented Monster qb, Andy
Pertikan, and his GMP Monsters would win a 24-21 decision, earning them
their first title of 2003. Congratulations gentlemen!!
