The Montreal Fleur De Lys and Toronto Shock faced off in yet another closely contested elite championship match up. Having so many memorable matches against each other in the last two years, both teams are so aware of each other’s tendencies that the results are always a toss up. Let’s see whom these talented teams had to face before squaring off in the finals.
Preliminaries
Toronto Shock 34 vs Scarborough Ravens 14
Toronto Rebels 31 vs Montreal Warriors 6
Montreal Fleur De Lys 14 vs Ottawa Devils 6
Toronto Wildcats 14 vs Toronto Rockets 8
The Shock and Fleur De Lys posted some big numbers leading up to their championship showdown. The Shock averaged over 28 points in their four games, but they ran into a defensive wall come championship time.
Semi-Finals
Toronto Shock 26 vs Toronto Wildcats 8
Montreal Fleur De Lys 34 vs Toronto Rebels 20
The Fleur De Lys displayed some mixed defensive skills over the weekend. While they were undefeated heading into the finals, they allowed the Rockets and Rebels into the endzone more often they would allow the Shock into the redzone.
In their second championship meeting of the year, and third prominent showdown of the season (Kingston elite prelims), the Shock and Fleur De Lys were one and one against each other, adding more fuel to an already exciting clash.
Despite scoring handfuls of touchdowns all weekend, this game would be decided by a solitary point in favour of the Fleur De Lys. With this victory, they finish the season with their best result ever, earning two elite titles and a second place finish in the Province.
Congratulations on a fine campaign ladies. Good luck at your Quebec Provincial championships, and we’ll see you at the Tournament of Champions in October!
