Two of the best rivalries thus far in women’s football this season involved the Toronto Shock. Their battles with the Montreal Fleur De Lys, and the Toronto Rebels, produced exciting and meaningful results. The Shock and Fleur De Lys have been leap-frogging each other for top spot, while the Rebels have been only inches from jumping past both. The aforementioned teams, once again engaged in meaningful contests in Kingston. Let’s take a look at the results, beginning with the preliminaries:

Preliminaries

Ottawa Fury 14 vs Montreal Les Geants 12

Toronto Shock 15 vs Montreal Fleur De Lys 14

Ottawa Devils 33 vs Toronto Ravens 8

Toronto Rebels 26 vs Toronto Rockets 20

Semi-Finals

Toronto Rebels 22 vs Ottawa Fury 0

Toronto Shock 23 vs Ottawa Devils 8

The Fleur De Lys, after dropping a one-sided result to their hometown rivals, Montreal Geants, had to face the unbeaten Shock in the prelims, a quality contest usually reserved for semi-final, and/or championship games. The Shock slipped past their Quebec counterparts in another classic match-up, before defeating the emerging Ottawa Devils, another old rival in the semi-finals.

In the preliminaries, The Toronto Rebels slipped past an old rival of their own, the Toronto Rockets, to face the Ottawa Fury. Kingston marked the first time the Fury advanced to the elite semi-finals. While they would come up short against the Rebels, the revamped Fury took some huge strides forward in K-town.

The Shock and Rebels competed for the elite for the second straight Tour stop. Their Hamilton battle was a low-scoring affair, with their Kingston contest offering similar results and the same winner. The Shock would defeat the Rebels for the second consecutive time, capture their second elite title of the season, and jump past the Fleur De Lys to take top spot in the Province. Congratulations ladies!
