The Ottawa Texans, one of the most promising up and comers out of Ottawa, displayed their promise throughout the Kingston stop. Aside from a close quarter-final match up with the Mississauga Gators, the Texans blew past their weekend competition to earn a birth in the “D” finals. There they would face their toughest competition to date, the experienced Toronto X-Men.

The higher seeded X-Men, after losing both of their round-robin contests, dropped into the Texans “D” division territory. Like the Texans, the X-Men would have their way with opponents to advance to the finals, posting a +43 play-off plus/minus.

Despite their higher seed, and deeper experience, the X-Men were pushed to the brink by the Texans. Although the X-men would squeak out a hard fought 22 to 18 decision, and the “D” title, the Texans proved they are ready for tougher competition. Congratulations to both teams for their excellent play-off performances!
